Style Acre – Helping people to grow and develop in their own unique way
Philippa will share with you what it means for those supported by Style Acre and how the people in their care work with the community. Philippa will also discuss how its work programme enhances and benefits those with learning disabilities and their employers.
Style Acre is a charity which enhances the lives of people with learning disabilities throughout Oxfordshire, by providing person-centred support. It provides support for over 240 people through supported living care teams, day service hubs, a successful work programme and by providing communication therapies. The people supported range from those with complex learning, health and/or physical disabilities needing 24-hour care, to others who need only a few hours support per week.
Philippa heads up fundraising, marketing and community development at Style Acre. With a small team, the fundraising department raise money to fund projects that the charity wouldn’t otherwise be able to deliver, providing work experience opportunities, gardening therapy and specialist equipment. The team also raise funds for capital projects, as the charity expands its reach.
With a keen interest in sound, Philippa took a degree in film and television, before becoming a sound engineer in the music industry. Philippa career-changed to the charity sector, working for Freedom from Torture, DEBRA, Autistica and Ufton Court, before joining Style Acre in 2012.
