Oxford (Iffley) Meeting

15th November, 2017 @ 10:00 - 12:00

| £12 - £17

Imagine a world without being able to read? Imagine never being able to pick up a book for pleasure? Or not understanding signs or written instructions or your post? That’s the reality for many adults today. So, Quest for Learning sets out to inspire young minds to avoid that grim future. But how do we work our magic? How do we turn children into life-long readers? This talk will give you some ideas of our teaching methods and hopefully, inspires you to dash to your local book shop. We’ll also reflect on your own reading habits and on how the example you set, can inspire others to get reading!

Jayne Lacny – Quest for Learning

Leading a charity which has the power to change children’s lives is an empowering calling. Jayne joined education charity, Quest for Learning, almost 7 years ago, as Director with a passion to support children and their families on the fringe of society. The charity seeks to reach out to youngsters struggling with literacy and numeracy and who are living in areas of disadvantage in Oxfordshire.

A journalist by trade, Jayne has been in the field of education for more than 20 years and has seen massive change in the sector, making the work of Quest for Learning more challenging but always worthwhile. She has worked with children and adults and knows the importance of being literate and numerate.
